Open Position: Independent Living Coordinator

Join Our Team

The NWGA Center for Independent Living (NWGACIL) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and self-motivated Independent Living Coordinator to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve greater independence and self-direction.

 

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people, building community connections, and advocating for disability rights. The Independent Living Coordinator works closely with consumers to identify goals, develop individualized plans, and connect them with the resources and skills they need to live independently.

 This is not a work-from-home or desk-only position. Regular travel throughout NWGACIL's 15-county service area is required.

 

What You'll Do

  • Partner with individuals with disabilities to develop and achieve independent living goals.

  • Conduct assessments and provide advocacy, referrals, and independent living skills training.

  • Maintain accurate consumer records, documentation, and required reports.

  • Build relationships with community organizations, service providers, and partner agencies.

  • Manage an active caseload while providing high-quality, consumer-directed services.

  • Represent NWGACIL professionally throughout the community.

  • Excellent communicators who enjoy working with diverse populations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or comparable human services experience.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Background check required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365.

 

Open Position: Community Transition Specialist 

Help People Return Home and Live Independently

The NWGA Center for Independent Living (NWGACIL) is seeking a dedicated Community Transition Specialist to help individuals with disabilities transition safely and successfully from nursing facilities back into their homes and communities.

 This rewarding position requires someone who is organized, compassionate, and committed to removing barriers that prevent people from living where they choose.

 This is a community-based position requiring extensive travel throughout Northwest Georgia.

 

What You'll Do

  • Support individuals transitioning from nursing facilities into community living.
  • Coordinate housing, assistive technology, benefits, durable medical equipment, and community resources.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, nursing facilities, waiver providers, and other community partners.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in WellSky and other agency systems.
  • Advocate for consumers throughout every stage of the transition process.
  • Represent NWGACIL professionally while working throughout the 15-county service area.

 Open Position: Youth Services Coordinator

 Empower Youth with Disabilities for Future Success

The NWGA Center for Independent Living (NWGACIL) is seeking an energetic and motivated Youth Services Coordinator to help youth with disabilities build the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed for successful employment, education, and independent living.

If you enjoy mentoring young people, collaborating with schools and community partners, and creating engaging programs, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a community-based position with frequent travel throughout NWGACIL's 15-county service area.

 

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate Youth Transition and Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS).
  • Build strong partnerships with schools, educators, GVRA, families, employers, and community organizations.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops, outreach events, trainings, and youth activities.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, reports, and program documentation.
  • Support youth with disabilities as they work toward employment, education, and independent living goals.
  • Represent NWGACIL throughout the community.

 

Successful candidates are:

  • Passionate about working with youth and young adults.
  • Strong relationship builders and effective communicators.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable presenting to groups and facilitating activities.
  • Willing to travel regularly throughout the service area.

  • Experience working with youth or individuals with disabilities preferred.
