The Association for Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL) is recruiting a Training and Technical Assistance Specialist (TTAS)!
The Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL) is a national disability rights/membership organization seeking a dynamic individual to maintain and grow their existing programs.
This is a temporary position with the possibility of permanent status.
APRIL Training and Technical Assistance Specialist Job Description: The Training & Technical Assistance Specialist (TTAS) is a main APRIL contact person to the IL Net, whose role it is to work to improve and focus IL training and technical assistance offerings to the independent living community. The TTAS works closely with the IL-NET team to implement and evaluate APRIL's expanded Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program. The TTAS will work closely on several projects with the University of Montana. TTAS will serve on network related meetings and collaborations, as needed.
Some Key Functions:
- Serve as the front-line resource person for the CILs and SILCs by maintaining regular contact, updating contact information, and assessing training and technical assistance needs annually.
- Work individually with CILs and SILCs as requested to identify training and technical assistance needs and develop simple training and technical assistance
- Assist CILs and SILCs in using the resources already available through the IL
- Assist in the marketing of new resources available through the IL NET and help CIL and SILC staff learn how to use those resources to meet their specific
Knowledge of Independent Living Philosophy; Disability Rights knowledge; Knowledge of Center for Independent Living services and resources available; Solid computer and writing skills; Experience with conducting needs assessment and evaluation; Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with others; Self-motivated and ability to work independently; Strong communication skills; Comfort with public speaking; Experience working with people with disabilities, in particular, youth with disabilities; Fund development experience; Vision and passion for the future Independent Living/Disability Rights Movement; Personal experience with a disability preferred; EOE/ADA.
Work Schedule: up to 40 hours per week; $18-$20 per hour depending on experience.
