How Centers for Independent Living (CILs) Can Assist VR&E and Veterans

Background: The National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) and The Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL) have collaborated with the Department of Veteran Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) Service to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).  This MOU will assist CILs and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors (VRC) to collaboratively address Veteran needs.  Information on NCIL and APRIL is on the back side of this information sheet.

States Listing

WELCOME to the New VETERAN’s page.

Here you will find information we’ve gathered from several states about what kinds of work Centers for Independent Living (CILs) are doing with Veterans. It varies from state to state and from Center to Center – from basic core services to much, much more.

Take a look at the listing below to see what we have so far by clicking on the state of your choice. The highlighted states (grey backgrounds) have furnished information and we are asking CILs that would like to add their services to the offerings to fill out the form below and send it to us today.

As you will see, by clicking on the name of the CIL, the viewer will be linked to the Center whose information is listed, so it’s a direct line for a Veteran looking for services.

We look forward to GROWING this page, so please send your information and you’ll be added to the list. Please be sure to fill out the form completely and submit it to APRIL today.

Thanks! Hope to hear from you soon.
