8:00 – 9:00 AM – Breakfast & Registration
9:00 – 9:30 AM – Welcome and Introductions
9:30 – 10:30 AM – Self-Advocacy:
- APRIL “Lead On” Collaborative mentors Erica Mones and Riley Hurt will present to “Lead On” cohort on self-advocacy skills and the importance of these skills when leading/facilitating a group in preparation for their group facilitation later in the day.
10:30 – 11:00 AM – BREAK
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Practice Round Tables
- “Lead On” cohort members will work together under the guidance of their mentors to prepare and practice for the afternoon’s Youth Conference round table discussions.
12:00 – 1:30 PM -- LUNCH
1:30 – 3:00 PM – Round Table Facilitation
- The 2023 APRIL “Lead On” Collaborative cohort will lead Youth Conference attendees in round table discussions on topics chosen by the cohort. Topics include disability representation in the media, self-advocacy, systems advocacy, resource sharing and locating, and invisible disabilities.
3:00 – 3:30 PM – Round Table Report Out
- Participants from both “Lead On” and the Youth Conference will report out on their round table discussions, including any action items they may want to take as a result of their discussion.
3:30 – 4:00 PM – Reflection and Wrap-Up
- “Lead On” cohort members will regroup, discuss their experience during both the conference and the program as a whole, and reflect on how they have grown as leaders throughout the process.
